Bought two pairs – black for me and white for my wife – as we wanted lightweight binoculars to use on our frequent walks. Have only used once so far on an RSPB site but we’re pleased with these, they are light, easy to focus, and with a reasonable field of view for catching birds in flight. They are quite small and as I have large hands I found them slightly awkward to get used to at first, but my wife had no such problems. I have marked this down to 4 stars because I think the neck strap is a bit cheap and fiddly to fit together, not helped by a slightly frayed edge on one end. Also if you don’t want them to dangle too low you end up with quite a lot of excess strap.

If you only want to buy one pair, then I can recommend the 8×32. These seem as bright as the 10×42 and magnification is not much less – but they are lighter and more compact, fitting easily into a pocket. I can see these being the most used pair in our family.

Would suggest Avalon provide some instructions for properly and neatly attaching neck strap. Finally worked it out after some time, was somewhat tricky. Gotta be Happy with this purchase.

Excellent customer service too, as the first pair of binoculars I received were faulty, the eye cup would not stay in the upright position. I contacted customer services and a replacement pair was sent out immediately.

These binoculars were delivered promptly and were well packaged. They are very good value for money and give a bright clear image. I took them to Borneo with me and they were perfect for bird watching. Not as good as my large bins but still very good for compacts. My only criticism would be the size of the case, which is too small for the binoculars. Overall I’m very pleased with them and would recommend them.

I broke my binoculars a few of days before going to India so I needed a new pair quickly. I chose these because they are waterproof, smaller, and slightly lighter than my previous ones. The compact size is ideal for travelling and they aren’t too heavy. Vision is OK too. But they aren’t as well made or as clear as my previous Bushnell binoculars, even though they cost a bit more.

Wow! I love my new binocs – my first good ones (I’ve only had fairly cheap ones before). I have just taken them on a bushwalk for the first time and done a bit of birdwatching and I couldn’t believe the clarity and detail and how close the birds looked. They are light to carry, fit nicely in your hand, quick to focus (once you have set them up initially) and overall lovely to use. The initial setting-up takes some time and is a bit tricky but once that’s done, they are a dream to use. I’m very happy with my purchase and look forward to years of happy birding.

Overall, the quality seems very good and when I compare them to our £500 full size binoculars, I would say that the optics are 90% and the light is also 90% of our other binoculars.
